Studying place and space

Location, location, location. The real estate maxim holds wisdom for geography students as well. SFA is located in one of the most diverse ecosystems in Texas, making it an ideal location for students to study the world and its inhabitants.

Geography is the science of place and space. Geography students learn and experience the lands, features, inhabitants and phenomena of Earth. As a geography student at SFA, you’ll delve into the ways that world cultures interact with environment.

Diverse career options

A geography degree provides a broad basis from which to explore career prospects in government, education or business. Geographers ask where things are located, why they are located there, how places differ and how people interact with the environment.

The world discipline

Geography bridges the human and physical sciences, focusing not only on land, but also on human interaction with the environment.

Geography transcends many disciplines, as it influences economics, health of plants and animals, and climate. SFA geography students gain an interdisciplinary education as they explore how human influence on geography affects these areas.
