The SFA Press broadens the university's mission of teaching, research, scholarship, creative work and service by publishing works of cultural and scholarly significance. With a goal of maintaining the high standards of traditional areas of literary publishing, while providing hands-on training opportunities for students, SFA Press publications have explored the history and culture of East Texas and the surrounding region, meeting the needs of regional and international audiences. Publications have received awards including the International Book Award for Military History, the Nebraska Book Award for Anthology, the Midwest Authors Book Award, and the National Association for Chicana and Chicano Studies Tejas Fiction Award.
