The voice of the students

The Student Government Association is the representative body of SFA students and is made up of and administered entirely by students. Its purposes are to serve as the voice of the SFA student body and as a model government (executive, legislative and judicial branches) while fostering leadership development.

Student Government Branches

Executive Branch

The Executive Branch is made up of the student body president and vice president, speaker of the senate, sergeant-at-arms, secretary, and chief justice of the Supreme Court. These executives give reports on behalf of the student body to the SFA Board of Regents, coordinate leadership opportunities for fellow SGA members, and administer the SGA budget.

Legislative Branch

The Legislative Branch comprises the SGA Senate and facilitates the writing and passage of campus-wide initiatives in the form of resolutions and bills. Senators are elected by their peers to represent their respective academic colleges and classifications.

Judicial Branch

The Supreme Court presiding over the Student Traffic Court and Conduct Board constitutes the Judicial Branch of SGA. It also serves as the presiding body for interpreting the SGA Constitution in cases of alleged organizational violations. The Supreme Court often also rules in student conduct cases not associated with SGA.
