Dual Credit Students
High school or home school students who want to take college classes for dual credit are required to meet TSI requirements before enrolling in coursework.
For more information about enrolling in dual credit coursework at SFA, please see Admissions Dual Credit.
TSI Eligibility
- SFA requires Dual Credit students be TSI complete, exempt, or receive a waiver to enroll in college courses.
- You may be exempt or waived from TSI via:
- ACT
- SAT
- PSAT
- PLAN
- STAAR
- Students not exempt or do not qualify for a waiver from TSI testing must submit passing TSI Assessment scores to be eligible to take subject-related coursework.
- Students not taking subject-related coursework must still submit TSI Assessment scores for reading and writing if not otherwise exempt or waived.
TSI Exemption, Passing, and Waiver Scores
Students must prove college-readiness by providing testing scores that meet exemption, passing, or waiver requirements.
- Exemption and passing scores are valid for 5-years.
- Waivers are only valid while enrolled in dual credit classes and do not extend beyond dual credit eligibility. If a waiver is issued and dual credit student does not earn college credit in coursework applicable toward TSI subjects, student will need to meet TSI exemption requirements or take the TSI Assessment for the non-completed area(s) before registering for classes as a college student.
