Nayeli's Path

NEA Big Read event, October 5, 2019
Nayeli’s Path

Mark your calendars for Saturday, October 5, to tour “Nayeli’s Path,” part of the Nacogdoches Public Library’s Kick-off Bus Tour for the NEA Big Read. The National Endowment for the Arts Big Read encourages residents of a town to read and explore a book together in the month of October. This year’s selection is "Into the Beautiful North" by Luis Alberto Urrea. The library’s Kick-off bus tour will begin at the Nacogdoches Convention and Visitors Bureau, travel to the Sterne Hoya House and Museum and the Durst Taylor House and Gardens, and conclude at the Stone Fort Museum where visitors will follow the journey of the novel's heroine, Nayeli, and her fellow travelers on a trail of quotation stationsthroughout the museum. Meet the characters in Nayeli’s world, learn of their heroic deeds and misadventures, and along the way, share your stories, reflections and brainwaves through a variety of media. There will be refreshments at each stop and music at the Stone Fort Museum.
