Scholarship opportunities
Lumberjack Transfer Scholarship
All fall/spring admitted students are automatically considered for SFA's Lumberjack Transfer Scholarship, with the potential to receive up to $2,000 per year.

Lumberjack Transfer Scholarship
Students are automatically considered and evaluated for the scholarship when officially admitted to the university, so a formal application for the Lumberjack Transfer Scholarship is not required.
This scholarship opportunity is for students who transfer to SFA during the fall or the spring.
- $1,000 for the year if the recipient’s transferable GPA is 3.0 to 3.49
- $2,000 per year if the recipient’s transferable GPA is 3.50 or higher.
Requirements
- Completed at least 15 transferable semester hours with a minimum GPA of 3.0 (as computed by SFA's Office of Admissions)
- Advanced placement or credit by exam credits are not included in the 30 transferable semester-hour requirement.
- Submit official college transcript to SFA's Office of Admissions.
- Be officially admitted to SFA.
Renewals
- This scholarship is renewable for a second academic year.
- Earn 24 or more semester hours of credits during your first fall and spring terms at SFA.
- Maintain a GPA of at least 3.25 during the fall and spring terms.

Transferring credit hours to SFA
A maximum of 66 academic hours plus up to four hours of KINE/PHED activity courses from junior or community colleges can be applied towards a bachelor's degree. Students can transfer up to 90 hours of credit to SFA from four-year universities and community colleges combined.

Ready to apply?
Submit all required materials as soon as possible. Applying early opens opportunities for scholarships, financial aid, housing and orientation. Complete applications will be reviewed for admission and decisions communicated on a rolling basis.
To apply, the Office of Admissions must receive your:
- Completed application for admission
- Official college transcripts (must be received directly from the college or university)
- $50 application fee, collected at the end of the application you complete in step 1
- Check to see if you qualify for an application fee waiver.
Note: If you have fewer than 15 attempted credits, you also much submit:
- Final official high school transcript (must be received directly from the school)
- Official standardized test scores (Codes: ACT 4188, SAT 6682)
Decision letters
Decision letters should arrive within two to three weeks of submitting a complete application.
mySFA account
Once you apply, you’ll get your own mySFA account within one week. mySFA is the official communication method of the university. Log on and set up your account right away to check on financial aid offers, housing assignments and class registration.

Register through the Orientation tab on mySFA
At Transfer Lumberjack Orientation you will:
- Learn about SFA resources, campus processes and university traditions
- Meet with your academic advisor
- Register for classes

Bacterial meningitis vaccine
Bacterial meningitis immunization requirement
In order to live on campus or take face-to-face classes, state law requires new students have a bacterial meningitis vaccine, that is less than five years old, administered at least 10 days prior to the start of term.
Housing
Use mySFA to apply for housing as soon as you finish your admissions application. Transfer students that are at least 21 years old, or have 60 earned college hours, may apply for an off-campus permit.
Academic Advising
To register for classes each semester, academic advising is required.
- Log in to mySFA.
- Click on the "Advising" tab.
- Locate the "My Advisor" box.
