Manning to lead college advisory board

Melissa Manning of Spring, global public relations director for IHS Inc., has been named president of SFA's College of Liberal and Applied Arts Advisory Board.

Manning has more than 20 years of experience as a marketing communications professional and is based in her company's Houston office. IHS is a leading source of information and insight in pivotal areas that shape today's business landscape: energy, economics, geopolitical risk, sustainability and supply chain management.

A 1988 graduate of SFA, Manning has been a member of the advisory board since 2008. She also is a member of the Texas Public Relations Association, Women in Energy, the American Marketing Association, the British American Business Council and the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo.

Thomas Mote of Cedar Park, the senior manager for project development for Hines Interests serving the Central Texas market areas, has been named vice president of the advisory board. Mote has almost 20 years of experience in the real estate industry, including the design, construction, and management of residential, industrial, and commercial space. He joined the advisory board earlier this year.

The College of Liberal and Applied Arts Advisory Board is composed of individuals who provide voluntary service on behalf of the students and faculty of the college by: recommending strategic advice, engaging in advocacy and profile elevation on behalf of the college; and conducting development activities in support of the college's initiatives and progra
