SFA announces art exhibition changes

NACOGDOCHES, TEXAS - The Stephen F. Austin State University School of Art has announced changes to its exhibition schedule for the next few months.

"A Forest Insect Alphabet" will open in Griffith Gallery at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 17, and run through Friday, Feb. 4. The exhibition of woodcuts and text included in a book recently printed and bound at SFA's LaNana Creek Press replaces "John Heliker: Drawings and Sketchbooks" that was originally scheduled to open in the gallery on Friday, Nov. 19. The Heliker show has been postponed until next year.

"Fabric of African Culture" will open in the Ledbetter Gallery of The Cole Art Center @ The Old Opera House at 6 p.m. Friday, Nov. 19, and run through Saturday, Jan. 15. The exhibition of African artifacts, sculptures, ceremonial articles and textiles on loan from two extensive local collections replaces "Storm Chaser" that was originally scheduled to be on display from Nov. 5 to Saturday, Jan. 15.

Griffith Gallery is located in Room 208 of SFA's Griffith Fine Arts Building, 2222 Alumni Dr. Regular gallery hours are 12:30 to 5 p.m., Tuesday through Friday. The Cole Art Center is located at 329 E. Main St. in downtown Nacogdoches. Its hours are 12:30 to 5 p.m., Tuesday through Friday, and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday.
