Watercolor East Texas exhibition to open

NACOGDOCHES, TEXAS - The winners of Watercolor East Texas' 27th annual juried exhibition will be announced on Saturday, July 23, at The Cole Art Center @ The Old Opera House in downtown Nacogdoches.

Beginning at 1:30 p.m., juror Sandra L. Spann will present the awards and offer a critique. A reception will immediately follow.

Spann, a signature member of the Southwest Watercolor Society, studied at Northeast Texas Community College for eight years with artist Jo Taylor, former student of the famed watercolorist Ed Whitney. She has also studied with Judi Betts, Margaret Kessler, Ann Templeton, Sharon Standridge, Skip Laurence and Tony Couch.

The exhibition will be on view in the Ledbetter Gallery from Tuesday, July 26, through Saturday, Aug. 27. It is sponsored in part by Nacogdoches Junior Forum and the SFA Friends of the Visual Arts.

The Cole Art Center is located at 329 E. Main St. Gallery hours are 12:30 to 5 p.m., Tuesday through Friday, and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday. Admission is free. For more information, please call (936) 468-1131.
