General Accomodations Disability Accomodations



Disorders affecting higher neurological cognitive functioning; may be characterized by significant discrepancy between intellectual potential and achievement in one or more academic areas; may affect manner in which individuals with average or above average intellectual abilities process and/or express information.

Limitations may include:

  • acquisition and use of listening, speaking, reading, writing, reasoning or mathematical skills
  • interpretation of social cues
  • time management and organization skills
  • problem solving
  • auditory/visual memory

Accommodations may include:

  • tape recording lectures and/or note taking assistance
  • extended time on tests and in-class assignments
  • separate testing location to minimize distractions
  • use of laptop computer with word processor, spell check, etc.
  • calculator
  • reader and/or scribe for exams
  • alternative testing format, i.e. oral, essay, multiple choice
  • instructions/demonstrations delivered in varying instructional modes
  • use of handouts, visuals, copy of transparencies
  • audio textbooks
