About

The Pre-K I room services twenty, three year old children. There are two full-time certified teachers who teach and care for the children. The learning centers curriculum is geared to meet the cognitive, physical, and social-emotional needs of this age group. Children are building the foundations needed to learn to read and write as well as developing math and reasoning skills.

Teachers

Karen Farris
Master Teacher

Karen graduated in 1987, from SFASU with a Bachelor's of Science of Education with a Minor in Child Development. She then began working in the Early Childhood Lab as the Infant Teacher and in 1989 became the Pre-K I Lead Teacher. She began pursuing her Masters in Early Childhood during this time and received her degree in 1999. In 2001, Karen began working as the Master Teacher in the Toddler II classroom until 2003 when she returned to the Pre-K I classroom as the Master Teacher. Karen has also worked as an instructor of lab courses as an SFASU adjunct faculty member since 2000. Karen is married to Hollis Neel Farris and has two children, Lacey and Derek, as well as three stepchildren, Hunter, Hannah, and Hudson.

Ginny Love
Teacher

Ginny graduated in 2009, from SFASU with a Bachelor's of Science in Child and Family Development and a minor in Early Childhood Intervention. In 2010, she began working at the Early Childhood Lab as a Toddler II teacher. In 2011, she moved to the Pre-K I classroom. Ginny received her Masters in Early Childhood Education in 2012. She is currently working toward a certification to become an Educational Diagnostician.
