Lumberjack Orientation Pre-Orientation Elective Sessions

Please Note: all Pre- and Post-Orientation Elective Sessions are optional.

First-Generation College Student Pre-Orientation Workshop, hosted by The Office of Multicultural Affairs
8:45 - 10 a.m. [BPSC Tiered Classroom, Room 2.201]
Being a first-generation college student may come with a lot of pressure and responsibility. This optional workshop will provide information first-generation students and family members with information to better adjust and prepare for college.


Tour of Nacogdoches | 10:15 a.m. [Steen Hall Parking Lot]

Orientation Programs invites you to take a complimentary tour of Nacogdoches. The bus for the tour will leave the parking lot at 10:15 a.m. The bus will arrive back on campus at 11:30 am. at Steen Hall. Seats are guaranteed for those who have pre-registered, remaining seats will be given on a first come, first serve basis.


Tours of Campus | 10 a.m. & Noon [Meet in the Office of Admissions, Rusk 206]
Take a tour of the SFA campus and become more familiar with the location of academic buildings and student services. Please note: This is a regular campus tour and is not orientation-related.


Student Services: Residence Life, Meal Plans, Post Office, Bookstore and ID Card
10:15 - 11 a.m. [BPSC Movie Theater]
This optional session will provide you with information about the residence halls, meal plan options, your student ID card and more.


Interpreting Typefocus for Major/Minor and Career Choices, hosted by the Center for Career & Professional Development | 11 - 11:30 a.m. [Liberal Arts North, Room 142]
The Center for Career & Professional Development team will provide a short interpretation of Typefocus results for students who took part in the optional pre-Orientation online assessment. Students who were unable to participate in the online assessment before Lumberjack Orientation are invited to attend and learn about the assessment and how they can participate in the future.


Roundup at Barnes & Noble Bookstore with SFA Dining, AARC, Residence Life, and Student Activities Association | 11 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. [First floor BPSC]
Stop by Barnes & Noble to learn about cost saving textbook options, textbooks price matching, and purchase your exclusive Class of 2022 shirt. Learn about dining services and meet with SFA Dining's Registered Dietitian. Representatives from the AARC, student services and student organizations will be available to discuss their programs.


Academic Excellence Pre-Orientation Session, hosted by the School of Honors
10:15 - 11:15 a.m. & 11:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. [Liberal Arts North, Room 102]
If you earned a minimum New SAT total score of 1290 (if taken March 2016 or after), minimum Old SAT total score of 1220 (if taken before March 2016) (not including writing), or minimum 27 ACT composite score (not including writing), AND/OR intend to bring college credit into SFA (through AP, Dual Credit, International Baccalaureate, CLEP, or departmental exams) you are invited to attend this session.
