Exemption applies to tuition and mandatory fees.
Eligibility
Eligible students are those who:
- are Texas residents
- declare a program of study when they apply for the exemption
- provide certification from the Texas Workforce Solutions of status as a blind person or a deaf person
- and enroll in classes for which SFA receives tax support (for example, a course that doesn't depend solely on student tuition and fees to cover its costs).

Continuation requirements
If on the completion of any semester or term you fail to meet the GPA requirements described in SFA's policy regarding eligibility for financial aid or have reached the excessive hour rule limits, you may not receive the exemption for the next semester or term in which you enroll.

How to apply
Upload the certification from Texas Workforce Commission and using the directions below:
- Login to mySFA.
- Select "Billing" from the navigation.
- Locate the "Billing Information" box.
- Click the "Upload Contract / Exemption Paperwork" link.
- Select "Visually Impaired" from the drop-down menu.
- Upload the certificate.
