Strategy Update Session - April 3, 2019

All members of the campus community are invited to attend the Strategy Update Session that will be held Wednesday, April 3 in the BPSC Multimedia Room at 1:30 p.m. In this session, two of the Strategic Plan working teams will make a short presentation detailing their progress and recommendations, followed by audience questions, comments, and discussion.

At 1:30 p.m., members of the Internships Team will present that team's recommendations for ways to enhance internship opportunities for students and to better evaluate the impact of internships.

At approximately 2 p.m., members of the Mentoring Team will present the team's recommendations for how to extend and improve mentoring opportunities for students.

Bright Spots Recognition

At the recommendation of the Redefining University Culture Team as well as the recommendation of multiple groups that participated in the campus-wide reading of Chip and Dan Heath's Switch, the vice presidents are honoring individuals from across campus for their work.

The first of these events will recognize faculty and staff that have gone above and beyond to create positive learning experiences for students. This Bright Spots: Teaching event will be held Thursday, March 7 at 2 p.m. at the Center for Teaching & Learning (2nd floor, Steen Library). Honorees will be available to discuss their work, and guests are welcome to visit with them and enjoy refreshments. The event will coincide with the Center for Teaching & Learning's open house. Both events are co-sponsored by Faculty Senate.

2018-2019 VP Panels

The vice presidents will host three panels during the 2018-19 academic year. All three panels took place in the McGee Business Building, Room 133. These events are part of continued efforts to foster openness and communication between campus administration and employees.

The first took place at 2:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 13. Anthony Espinoza, SFA's chief information officer, presented information on recent and forthcoming changes to the university's information technology services. Click to view the recording.

The second panel took place at 2 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 1. Erma Nieto-Brecht, Executive Director of Enrollment Management, presented information on changes to recruitment practices at SFA. Click to view the recording.

The final panel took place at 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 14. Interim President Dr. Steve Westbrook presented information on the current Texas legislative session as well as the major tenets of SFA's legislative agenda. Click to view the recording.

Strategy Update Session - April 19, 2018

All members of the campus community are invited to attend the Strategy Update Sessions that will be held Thursday, April 19 in Regents Suite A at 2 p.m. In this session, two of the Strategic Plan working teams will make a short presentation detailing their progress and recommendations, followed by audience questions, comments, and discussion.

At 2 p.m., a member of the Leadership SFA Team will present that team's recommendations for the formation of a professional development series on the topic of employee leadership.

At approximately 2:30 p.m., a member of the Affordability and Student Debt: Instructional Materials Team will present the team's recommendations for how to lower the cost of instructional materials for students.

VP Open Forums

Each of the vice presidents will host an open forum in Spring 2018. The events are part of continued efforts to foster openness and communication between campus administration and employees.

All members of the campus community are invited to attend any of the Strategy Update Sessions that will be held Thursday, October 12 in Regents Suite A. In these sessions, three of the Strategic Plan working teams will make a short presentation detailing their progress and recommendations, followed by audience questions, comments, and discussion.

At 2 p.m., a member of the Affordability & Student Debt: Financial Literacy Team will present that team's recommendations for creating opportunities for students to improve their financial literacy.

At approximately 2:30 p.m., a member of the Co-Curricular Innovations Team will present the team's recommendations for how to improve students' university experiences through co-curricular programs.

At approximately 3 p.m., members of the Teaching & Learning Advancement Team will present their recommendations for better fostering mentored undergraduate research and a culture of teaching excellence.

Strategic Plan Update Meeting - April 7, 2017

The vice presidents and the strategic plan working teams invite all members of the campus community to attend the Strategic Plan Update Meeting on Friday, April 7 at 2 p.m. in the BPSC Theater.

At the start of the meeting, an update on items that have already been implemented as a result of recommendations for strategic planning teams will be presented.

Additionally, seven working teams will present updates on their work from the past year: Teaching & Learning Advancement, Affordability and Student Debt: Instructional Materials, Affordability and Student Debt: Financial Literacy, Co-Curricular Innovation, Culture: Employee Leadership, Culture: Social Events, and Enrollment Management.

All members of the campus community are invited to attend either or both of the Strategy Update Sessions that will be held Thursday, May 5 in the Math Building, Room 101. In these sessions, two of the Strategic Plan working groups will make a short presentation detailing their progress and recommendations, followed by audience questions, comments, and discussion.

At 1:30 p.m., the Career Development Integration Team will present their recommendations for better integrating career development into all years of a student's experience.

At 2:30 p.m., members of the Teaching & Learning Advancement Team will present their recommendations for refreshing classroom spaces across campus.

Strategic Plan Town Hall - January 22, 2016

Town Hall postcardOn January 22, 2016, representatives from each of the strategic plan working teams presented to approximately 250 members of the SFA community recommendations for strategies related to the four operational goals of the plan.
