Develop a passion for politics

Are you interested in politics and international affairs?  If you’re fascinated by issues like public policy, globalism, civil rights and foreign policy, consider majoring in political science at SFA.

You’ll read classic and contemporary political texts. You’ll study political theory, American state and local government, political parties, elections and the legislative and judicial systems. You’ll learn about international politics and the global impact of political events.

SFA offers both a Bachelor of Arts and a Bachelor of Science with the general education requirements outlined by the College of Liberal and Applied Arts.

A path to leadership in a political world

Your political science degree is excellent preparation for a leadership role in a range of careers. The critical and analytical skills you develop are a great advantage in fields ranging from business, law and government to teaching, journalism and consulting. You may want to consider a career in government or contribute your skills to private-sector organizations.

In our globalized world, every industry and business is affected by world events and international politics. Your knowledge of domestic and international affairs, your broad perspective and your understanding of complexity are critical assets.
