Waivers

Waiver applies to nonresident tuition, reducing the amount to Texas resident tuition rates.

Eligibility

Eligible nonresident or foreign students, including citizens, U.S. permanent resident, someone who is eligible to be a U.S. permanent resident and an eligible non-immigrant are those who meet one of the following:

  1. have family that has been transferred to Texas by a company established as part of the state's Economic Development and Diversification Program
    • not earlier than five years before the relevant enrollment date
    • and their spouse and children shall pay resident tuition as soon as they move to Texas. The student must provide SFA with a letter of intent to establish Texas as their home.
  2. moves to Texas to attend SFA before their family is transferred.
    • In this case, the student is permitted to pay the resident tuition beginning with the first term after the family moves to Texas.
  3. have maintained a residence in Texas for 12 months with their family.
    • In this case, the student may request a change in classification in order to pay resident tuition.
