NACOGDOCHES, Texas - The Stephen F. Austin State University Board of Regents approved a slate of new faculty and staff appointments and changes of status during its regular meeting Monday.

Faculty appointments in the James I. Perkins College of Education included Ginger L. Kelso, assistant professor of human services; J. Lindsey Kennon, lecturer of human services; Kerry Lee Roberts, assistant professor of secondary education; and Nagalapura Viswanath, associate professor of human services. In addition, Paula B. Griffin was promoted from adjunct faculty to full-time instructor of elementary education.

Other faculty members appointed by the board include: Gail J. Leslie, lecturer of computer science; Jackie A. Rosenfeld, visiting lecturer of theatre; Kierah Weber, enrollment management intern and instructor of government; and Anne B. Collier and Christopher H. Ryan, clinical instructors of nursing.

Additional faculty changes of status include: Deborah D. DuFrene, from professor and chair of general business to professor and interim associate dean of the Nelson Rusche College of Business; Shirley A. Wilson, from associate professor of general business to associate professor and interim chair of general business; and George R. Franks, from instructor to assistant professor of government.

The Board of Regents also approved the following staff appointments in the Department of Athletics: Lacee' C. Carmon, assistant track coach; Stefanie Lee Gray, assistant golf coach; James Thomas Stellato, assistant women's basketball coach; and Jacob Paul Willingham, assistant football coach.

Other staff appointments include: Lee Charles Shortridge, publication specialist in the Office of Public Affairs; Thomas E. Browning, hall director; and Matthew R. McDaniel, manager of Public Safety Technology.

Additional staff changes of status were: Pamela R. Corman, from accounting assistant III to interim assistant bursar; Bobby F. Williams from assistant bursar to interim bursar; Louis C. Tasciotti, from casual worker to keyboard technician; Joey L. Bray, from associate director of poultry science to assistant professor and director of poultry science; Melinda A. Colby, from communications and training specialist to assistant director of the Banner project; Robert L. Coker, from accounting clerk II to manager of transportation services; Lynsey C. Cortines, from admissions counselor to academic adviser; Lacey A. Claver from student life graduate assistant to assistant coordinator of student activities; and Whitney K. Denney, from student life graduate assistant to early intervention coordinator.

Regents also approved the retirement of Victor L. Shepherd, manager of transportation services, after 37 years of service to the university.
