What to do while you're here

Make the most of your visit

Here are a few people you should talk to and departments you should visit while you're here:

Admissions

You can meet with a representative from the Office of Admissions before or after every tour to learn more about how to apply to SFA, from submitting test scores and completing an application to setting up a mySFA account. Admissions representatives are available most weekdays.

For more information or to schedule an appointment with an admissions representative, call 936.468.2504 or email admissions@sfasu.edu.

Academic units

Interested in a specific major or area of study? Meet with a faculty member from your academic department of choice and learn more about coursework, curriculum and career opportunities.

To schedule an appointment with a faculty member, you will need to contact the specific academic department.

Financial aid

Concerned about the cost of a college education? We can help. Visit our financial aid department to learn how to apply for financial aid and get details about the different types of financial aid available to SFA students, from grants to Federal Work-study programs to student loans.

To meet with a financial aid representative, just visit their office. If you want to meet with your assigned aid counselor, you'll want to make an appointment in advance.

Student services

While you’re here, make sure to drop by the Baker Pattillo Student Center to learn more about the variety of services available to Lumberjacks, from dining and entertainment options to mail and printing. And if you get hungry, you don’t have to go far – the student center is home to several popular favorites like Starbucks, Chick-fil-A and more.

Residence halls

Living on campus is a great way to get the full "college experience." And whether you're looking for quiet, low-key surroundings or larger-than-life fun, you’ll find a perfect match in one of our many residence halls.

Arts and athletics

Don't forget to leave some time for fun while you're here!

On-campus movie theater

The Student Activities Association Cinema, located in the Baker Pattillo Student Center, presents great movies at a great price.

Performing and visual arts

Many talented performers grace our stages, from touring acts to student-directed plays and performances by our Lumberjack musicians. There's almost always an art exhibit on display, showcasing works from our School of Art faculty and students.

To view upcoming events and purchase tickets, visit the Fine Arts Box Office.

Sporting Events

SFA is home to both competitive Division I sports teams and cheer and dance teams. For more information on each team, schedules, tickets and gear, visit our official athletics website at SFAJacks.com. Don't forget to wear purple when you cheer on the Lumberjacks and Ladyjacks!
