Instructor Selection Process

For more than 20 years, SFA 101 has had great success in transitioning and engaging new freshman into the Stephen F. Austin State University community because of the efforts of skilled and caring educators. The SFA 101 Department prides itself on the quality of its Faculty Instructors and their commitment to freshman success.

If you are a current Faculty or Staff member who is interested in joining the SFA 101 team, please complete the Faculty Interest Form. We are asking that any person interested in teaching SFA 101 for fall 2019 complete this form and submit the required documents by May 1, 2019. If you would like to be considered for future terms, please complete the interest form and submit your professional documents at your earliest convenience.

All Faculty or Staff who complete the interest process will be contacted by the SFA 101 Department if there are sections available.

Reservations for Special Events

Office of Multicultural Affairs Events Tunnel of Oppression

The Office of Multicultural Affairs would like to invite you and your class to the Tunnel of Oppression. This is our most popular event amongst SFA 101 participants! This year we are expanding the times we are offering tours of the Tunnel in order to give your classes the chance to experience the Tunnel. This year's Tunnel of Oppression will be Monday, November 4, 2019 and Tuesday, November 5, 2019 from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

In order to accommodate all SFA 101 classes we are setting up a schedule of times. In addition, to expanded times we are also implementing a new reservation procedure. Simply click on the link: http://sfasu.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_6txFCpw9pTBFHSt and fill out the online form. You will receive a confirmation email no later than Monday, October 7, 2019 by 4:00 p.m. confirming that we received your request to attend the Tunnel. Reservations dates and times are limited and we will assign your classes date and time on a first come first serve basis - no exceptions.

Fine Arts

The School of Theatre will be showcasing two plays for the SFA 101 classes. Below you will find a description of the plays, as well as a reservation form. Please complete the reservation form by the respective deadlines listed below. Plays have a firm start time of 7:30 PM. Therefore, late comers will be seated at the discretion of management. We advise students to arrive 10-15 minutes early.

The Wolves by Sarah DeLappe - Monday, September 30, 2019 at 7:30 PM

Follow the daily routines and conversations of nine girls on a soccer team as they navigate teenage big questions and tiny battles in a portrait of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness for kids who just want to score some goals.

If you would like your SFA 101 class to attend this particular event, please complete the Reservation Form by September 23, 2019. Once the SFA 101 Office has received your reservation request, you will be contacted with a confirmation email and the tickets will be campus mailed to you.

Titus Andronicus by William Shakespeare - Monday, November 11, 2019 at 7:30 PM

A fast paced, twisty, and dark play that is considered to be one of Shakespeare's most bloody plays, 'Titus Andronicus" chronicles Rome's honored general as he returns home from wars and begins a cycle of revenge filled with bloody deaths as punishment for a series of committed wrongs.

If you would like your SFA 101 class to attend this particular event, please complete the Reservation Form by November 4, 2019. Once the SFA 101 Office has received your reservation request, you will be contacted with a confirmation email and the tickets will be campus mailed to you.
