NACOGDOCHES, TEXAS - The Stephen F. Austin State University School of Theatre will present a student production of "The Rising of the Moon" at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 19, and at 2 and 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 20, in the Downstage Theatre of the Griffith Fine Arts Building.

The one act play by Irish playwright Lady Augusta Gregory is an inspirational story about the Irish ideal of freedom, explained Nate Reid, Austin senior who is directing the play.

First produced in 1907 by the Irish National Theatre, the play is an unusual choice for a student production, Reid continued. "Students rarely present pre-modern plays, but I wanted to showcase the knowledge and research I accumulated from the Irish Theatre study abroad program this past June."

The cast consists of Garrett Cross, Victoria junior; Rosemary Kolbo, Dallas freshman; Zach Russell, Austin senior; and Danielle Easter, exchange student from the United Kingdom.

Tickets are $3. For tickets or more information, please call (936) 468-6407 or (888) 240-ARTS.
