Bruce Henniss, associate professor of horn at The Ohio State University, will present a guest horn recital at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, March 29, in Cole Concert Hall on the SFA campus.

NACOGDOCHES, TEXAS - The Stephen F. Austin State University College of Fine Arts and School of Music will present Bruce Henniss in a guest horn recital at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, March 29, in Cole Concert Hall on the SFA campus.

Henniss, associate professor of horn at The Ohio State University will present pieces written for the French horn, including Verne Reynolds' "Call for Two Horns," which will also feature SFA Professor of horn Dr. Charles Gavin, and "La Entrada de los Caballeros" by native Texan composer Kerry Turner.

Henniss will also perform Doug Hill's "Idyll for Solo Alphorn," a work written for the 10- to 12-foot instrument first used in the Swiss Alps.

Prior to joining the OSU faculty in 2007, Henniss was a member of the Houston Symphony for 12 seasons and served on the faculties of Rice University, the University of Houston and the Interlochen Arts Academy.

He has performed, recorded or toured with the Chicago Symphony, Cincinnati Symphony, Detroit Symphony, St. Louis Symphony, Honolulu Symphony and the Pro Musica Chamber Orchestra (Columbus, Ohio).

Henniss holds Performance Degrees from The Oberlin Conservatory and Northwestern University.
