The Department of History at Stephen F. Austin State University will present this year's Maxwell Lecturer, Jack Sacco, at 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 27, in the Twilight Ballroom of the Baker Pattillo Student Center.

Sacco is the author of the Pulitzer-nominated book "Where the Birds Never Sing: The True Story of the 92nd Signal Battalion and the Liberation of Dachau." The book chronicles the true story of Joe Sacco, the author's father, from his first days in boot camp through the invasion of Normandy and the liberation of an infamous Nazi concentration camp.

The event is free and open to the public. Nacogdoches residents, especially veterans, are encouraged to attend.
