NACOGDOCHES, TEXAS - The Stephen F. Austin State University School of Art and Friends of the Visual Arts will present a one-night screening of "Addicted to Plastic: The Rise and Demise of a Modern Miracle" at 7:00 p.m. Friday, Sept. 3, at The Cole Art Center @ The Old Opera House, 329 E. Main St. in downtown Nacogdoches as part of its monthly film series. Admission is free.

Ian Connacher's 85-minute documentary about solutions to plastic pollution takes the viewers on a global journey to investigate what we really know about the highly versatile material, its toxic legacy and the men and women dedicated to cleaning it up.

While creating the film, Connacher visited 12 countries on five continents within three years in an effort to offer an overview of plastic's influence over the past 100 years and a new perspective about our future with it.

The film is sponsored in part by Dr. Ken Farrish, director of the SFA Division of Environmental Science, and Nacogdoches Junior Forum.
