NACOGDOCHES, Texas — The 2023 Nac Short Film Festival, featuring the work of current and former Stephen F. Austin State University film students, is scheduled for 7 to 10 p.m. April 15 in the Baker Pattillo Student Center Theater on the SFA campus.

The festival focuses on independent filmmakers who create films in East Texas. During the event, attendees will vote for the Audience Choice Award, which comes with a $100 prize for the winner.

“This festival offers a great chance for the general public to see some fantastic short films,” said Herbert Midgley, festival director and lecturer in SFA’s School of Music. “And for the filmmakers, the festival is a great way to network with their peers and introduce themselves to a new audience.”

The films are under 15 minutes long, including credits, and are no more than five years old. Narrative films and documentaries were considered for entry. The filmmaker or at least one person associated with the film must be present for the film to be screened and to be eligible for the audience award.

Selected films will be shown from 7 to 9 p.m. followed by a Q&A with the filmmakers. The festival is free and open to the public.
