NACOGDOCHES, Texas – International violinist Dr. Namjoo Oh will collaborate with Dr. Minhae Lee, assistant professor of piano at Stephen F. Austin State University, in a chamber music recital at 6 p.m. Friday, March 17, in the Music Recital Hall, Wright Music Building, on the SFA campus.
 
The concert program will feature Sonata for Piano and Violin No.21 in E minor, K. 304 by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart; Violin Sonata in A major, Op. 100  by Johannes Brahms; and Sonata in A major for Violin and Piano by César Franck.
 
Oh is a South Korean violinist who began studying the violin at the age of 4. At 16, she was accepted to the Mozarteum University in Salzburg and earned her bachelor’s degree as an early graduate at 19, followed by a master’s degree and a postgraduate diploma at the Mozarteum University. In 2019, she earned a Doctor of Musical Arts in violin performance at Michigan State University.
 
Oh has performed in hundreds of concerts as a concerto soloist, recitalist and chamber musician throughout the U.S., Austria, Germany, Croatia, France, Poland, Italy, Australia, Vietnam, China and Korea. In 2008, her orchestral career started with the Junge Philharmonie in Vienna and the Junge Philharmonie in Salzburg. She was a concertmaster for the MSU symphony orchestra and was a member of Ohio Light Opera, the Camerata Michigan Ensemble and the Midland Symphony Orchestra.
 
From 2016 to 2019, she was awarded the Alexander Schuster Principal Violinist Award, Romeo Tata Graduate Fellowship in Music, a Simpson Endowed Scholarship in Strings at MSU and a Michigan State University College of Music Scholarship. Oh is a member of the Suzhou Symphony Orchestra through successful audition in 2019-20 season.
