Stone Fort Museum

Step into History!

The Stone Fort Museum, on the campus of Stephen F. Austin State University, celebrates early East Texas history with stories about the people remembered or forgotten, places cherished or destroyed, things made or used, and challenges faced! A legacy of Nacogdoches’ Spanish history, the museum is housed in a 1936 reconstruction of Antonio Gil Y’Barbo’s eighteenth century stone house and explores the natural and cultural history of the region.
