An internship provides an opportunity to practice your classroom studies, gain exposure to your field of interest and discover whether your chosen field is really what you want to pursue. Students who participate in an internship experience have a definite advantage, as experience related to your field is very important to future employers.

Internship Opportunities

A number of academic departments coordinate with the campus community and external employers to provide for-credit internships. To learn more about these internship opportunities, contact the appropriate department.

Departments interested in offering an on-campus internship can refer to the quick start guide for further instructions.

  • The Center for Career and Professional Development collaborates with the campus community and area employers to provide internship opportunities (advertised through Handshake) and offers advice and other resources to students who are interested in pursuing an internship.

The CCPD can also assist students who are seeking internships through career coaching appointments. These appointments help students create an action plan for applying for internships as well as providing information on where to look for opportunities.

  • Internships with external employers can also be found by visiting websites such as the Texas Internship Challenge and USAJOBS.

Students who participate in on-campus internships are required to execute the Student Internships Release Form or other form approved by the general counsel prior to the start date of their internship. If the student intern is a minor, then the form must be signed by a parent or legal guardian.
