Individuals Making a Path Across Campus Towards Unity (IMPACT-U)

Concept
• This is program will be designed for students who are already involved in organizations under The Office of Multicultural Affairs but want to further their involvement by participating in programs outside of their respected organizations
• This program is also for students who are not affiliated with OMA organizations but are passionate about social justice and desire to become more involved
• Social justice advocates who are ready to promote awareness through campus and community-wide events
• Challenge and motivate students, faculty, and staff to get involved and engage in conversations about various situations that affect minority and underrepresented student groups
• Be willing to educate others about diversity and inclusion
• IMPACT-U students will be able to present and participate in programs along with OMA student ambassadors and they will be able to step in in the absence of an OMA student ambassador

Required Trainings

Safe Space Ally Training

-A Safe Space is a welcoming, supportive, and safe environment for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer students. Safe Space Ally Training is designed to help campuses create a safe space for LGBTQ students. One of the most effective ways to create a safe space is to be a supportive ally to LGBTQ students.

General Diversity Training

-This presentation gives an overview on diversity. Basic terminology such as diversity, social justice, stereotypes and microaggressions are explored and explained.
