Dr. S. Ann Wilson, associate professor and chair of the Department of General Business at Stephen F. Austin State University, was named 2011 Outstanding Teacher at a meeting of the Association for Business Communication - Southwestern United States.

The SFA Madrigal Singers, well known throughout East Texas for its concert repertoire that includes music from the Renaissance to present day, will perform in concert at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 10, in Cole Concert Hall.

The school has a long history of presenting Handel's masterpiece during December, said Dr. Tim King, SFA professor of music and director of choral activities. "We invite singers from around the area to join their voices with the SFA combined choirs and participate in this holiday tradition."

NACOGDOCHES, Texas - Elyce Rodewald, education coordinator for the SFA Gardens, will host a soap-making workshop, from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, Nov. 5, in Room 118 of the Agriculture Building on Wilson Drive.

"Gifts from the Garden" participants will create a variety of herbal soaps, learn recipes and techniques of soap making, and take home samples of luxurious soap they make themselves.

Nacogdoches Naturally will host a family field trip to Martin Dies, Jr. State Park beginning at 7:30 am. Saturday, Nov. 12. Nacogdoches Naturally is sponsored by SFA Gardens at Stephen F. Austin State University and the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department in an effort to connect families with East Texas parks and recreation facilities.

NACOGDOCHES, TEXAS - As part of its monthly independent film series, the Stephen F. Austin State University College of Fine Arts and School of Art will present a free, one-night screening of "Herb and Dorothy" at 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 4, at The Cole Art Center @ The Old Opera House in downtown Nacogdoches.

Megumi Sasaki's 2009 film focuses on Herbert and Dorothy Vogel, who managed to amass one of the most important collections of contemporary art in history with very modest means.

The photographs are showcased in the exhibition, "The Legacy of Diedrich Rulfs: Architect of Nacogdoches," which will open at 6 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 3, at The Cole Art Center @ The Old Opera House.
