Eileen Ivers returns to SFA with ‘Joyful Christmas’
NACOGDOCHES, Texas –– Stephen F. Austin State University’s Micky Elliott College of Fine Arts will welcome Grammy-winning fiddler Eileen Ivers back to campus for her holiday performance, “Joyful Christmas,” at 7:30 p.m. Dec. 9 in Turner Auditorium in the Griffith Fine Arts Building.
SFA alumna and soprano to speak at fall undergraduate commencement ceremonies
NACOGDOCHES, Texas –– Amanda Sheriff, a soprano in opera and musical theater, will give the commencement address during Stephen F. Austin State University’s fall graduation ceremonies for undergraduates at 2 and 6 p.m. Friday, Dec. 12, in Johnson Coliseum. Sheriff will also lead the singing of the SFA school song during each of the ceremonies.

This year’s curriculum, “Food Smarts: A Cooking and Nutrition Class,” concluded this week after six weeks of nutrition education, equipping a new group of participants with practical skills to prepare nutritious, affordable meals.

NACOGDOCHES, Texas –– Natalie Thornton, executive director of Court Appointed Special Advocates of the Pines and former public high school teacher, will present “Connected and Compassionate: Humane Education Strategies for Trust-Based Relational Intervention” at Stephen F. Austin State University’s Montgomery Professorship for Humane Education Speaker Series. The presentation begins at 5:30 p.m. Feb. 24 in the Janice A. Pattillo Early Childhood Research Center, Room 212, and via Zoom.
SFA education students presented, volunteered at statewide bilingual conference
NACOGDOCHES, Texas –– Members of Stephen F. Austin State University’s Bilingual Education Student Organization shared research, volunteered and connected with bilingual education leaders from across the state during the 2025 Texas Association for Bilingual Education Conference.
The conference, billed as the largest bilingual education gathering in Texas, brought teachers, administrators and university faculty members to promote equitable education for English learners and celebrate the linguistic and cultural diversity of Texas classrooms.
