SFA business students, alumnus and associate professor earn awards at international management conference


NACOGDOCHES, Texas –– The Stephen F. Austin State University chapter of the Society for Advancement of Management received several awards at the SAM International Business Conference in March in East Greenwich, Rhode Island. In addition, Dr. Gina Harden, SAM faculty advisor and associate professor of management information systems in SFA’s Nelson Rusche College of Business, and SFA alumnus Corey Johnson ’17 and ’22, senior culture shaping specialist at Pilot Company, received prestigious national awards from SAM at the event.

SFA workshop to offer techniques for preventing falls


NACOGDOCHES, Texas –– Need help improving your balance? Stephen F. Austin State University’s Department of Allied Health Studies is hosting a fall-prevention workshop from 9:30 a.m. to noon April 20 in the Baker Pattillo Student Center Twilight Ballroom.

The free workshop is for adults 65 years and older and is limited to 50 participants. Those who apply by April 10 and are selected for the workshop will be notified by April 14.

SFA students and local bankers explore the future of digital assets

Rich Perez, vice president of innovation and strategy at the Texas Bankers Association, helped local bankers and Stephen F. Austin State University students demystify those terms and understand their impacts at a recent banking and wealth management career day hosted by the Nelson Rusche College of Business’ Chadwick Banking Program.

SFA Sylvans win eighth-straight Southern Forestry Conclave, earn highest point total ever


NACOGDOCHES, Texas –– The Stephen F. Austin State University Sylvans timbersports team has once again claimed victory at the 67th annual Association of Southern Forestry Clubs Conclave, marking the Sylvans’ 20th overall Conclave title and extending their winning streak to eight consecutive Conclaves.

Hosted this year by the University of Arkansas at Monticello Forestry Club, the event brought together 14 universities to compete in a series of rigorous technical and physical forestry-related events.

SFA students, alumna advocate for undergraduate research in Washington, DC


NACOGDOCHES, Texas –– Three Stephen F. Austin State University students and one alumna recently represented SFA at the Council on Undergraduate Research’s Scholars Transforming through Research conference in Washington, D.C. They also visited the offices of U.S. senators from Texas to advocate for undergraduate research.

SFA horticulture students to host spring plant fair


NACOGDOCHES, Texas –– Students in Stephen F. Austin State University’s horticulture program and the SFA Horticulture Club will host the annual student-run Spring Plant Fair from 8 to 3 p.m. April 11 at the SFA Plantery, located at 1924 Wilson Drive behind the Agriculture Building.

Plants available for purchase include a variety of native perennials, edibles, annuals, houseplants and succulents. Pancakes will be offered for free with a donation encouraged.
