SFA students explore businesses, historical sites in Estonia and Finland


NACOGDOCHES, Texas –– Fifteen Stephen F. Austin State University students capped off their summer I term “Discovering Business” course in the Nelson Rusche College of Business with a trip to Estonia and Finland at the end of July.

The study abroad course, now in its third year, is designed to introduce incoming first-year and current students of all majors to business concepts and principles while helping them meet fellow Lumberjacks and faculty members before the fall semester starts.

SFA finance students selected for UTIMCO Scholars program


NACOGDOCHES, Texas –– Three finance sophomores from Stephen F. Austin State University’s Nelson Rusche College of Business were selected for The University of Texas/Texas A&M Investment Management Company Scholars program this year.

Madison Custer of Spring, Davis Huddle of Houston and Raymundo Perez of Frisco form the second group of SFA students selected for this opportunity, which was made possible by the university’s affiliation with the UT System two years ago.

SFA to honor 2025 alumni award recipients, athletics hall of fame inductees at new Lumberjack Legacies celebration


NACOGDOCHES, Texas –– Stephen F. Austin State University will honor its 2025 alumni award recipients and SFA Athletics Hall of Fame inductees at 6 p.m. Friday, Sept. 19, at The Fredonia Hotel in Nacogdoches.

This year, SFA’s Division of University Advancement and Department of Athletics have joined forces to launch a new event format and name: Lumberjack Legacies. The spirited evening will honor the accomplishments and impact of SFA alumni.

Hendricks completes two books, presents research in Morocco


NACOGDOCHES, Texas –– Dr. John Allen Hendricks, professor and chair of Stephen F. Austin State University’s Department of Media and Communication, presented research in May at the Global Communication Association conference in Casablanca, Morocco, related to two books he recently completed.

SFA sets new fall enrollment record


NACOGDOCHES, Texas –– Stephen F. Austin State University kicked off the 2025 fall semester Monday with its largest first-time undergraduate class ever. The university also celebrated its first increase in total enrollment since fall 2018.
