Four students selected for 2026 Best of SFA Awards


NACOGDOCHES, Texas –– Stephen F. Austin State University’s Student Involvement office named Colin Anderson, special education senior from Arlington; Emma Patton, chemistry senior from Wylie; Joelie Gentry, media and communication senior from Bakersfield, California; and Ruweida Mohamed, premed junior from Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, as recipients of the 2026 Best of SFA Award.

SFA culinary students gain career experience at Masters Tournament


NACOGDOCHES, Texas –– Fifteen Stephen F. Austin State University students in the School of Human Sciences and Professional Studies’ hospitality administration culinary program were recruited to staff the Masters Tournament kitchens April 3-12 at the Augusta National Golf Club in an exclusive experience to work alongside world-class experts in the culinary field.

SFA instructor and alumnus receives Lifetime Achievement Award for contributions to the education of students with visual impairments


NACOGDOCHES, Texas –– Dr. Michael Munro, clinical instructor in Stephen F. Austin State University’s Department of Education Studies, recently received a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Texas Association for Education and Rehabilitation of the Blind and Visually Impaired at its annual conference in Denton.

"The fact that the statewide organization took the unprecedented step of recognizing my dedication and passion for the field was overwhelming to me,” Munro said. “A cherished moment in my life.”

SFA engineering students earn top honors in regional robotics competition


NACOGDOCHES, Texas –– Stephen F. Austin State University’s IEEE Robotics Team captured first place at the IEEE Region 5 Robotics Competition in March in Boulder, Colorado. SFA engineering students competed against 25 teams from 23 universities to earn top honors at the prestigious event sponsored by the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers’ Southwestern U.S. region.
