Austin State University students from the Micky Elliott College of Fine Arts, Nelson Rusche College of Business, and College of Liberal and Applied Arts showcased their creativity, collaboration and professionalism at the 2025 District 10 American Advertising Federation’s National Student Advertising Competition, earning multiple awards and scholarships for their work on a campaign for AT&T.
SFA’s construction management program to host open house for tiny homes
NACOGDOCHES, Texas –– Stephen F. Austin State University’s construction management students in the James I. Perkins College of Education’s School of Human Sciences will host an open house featuring two tiny homes they built this spring from 11 a.m. to noon May 9 at the Village Nac community at 1188 County Road 823 in Nacogdoches.

SFA alumnus and Lockheed Martin engineer to address SFA graduates during spring commencement ceremonies
NACOGDOCHES, Texas –– Daniel Campos, Lockheed Martin quality engineer, will give the commencement address during Stephen F. Austin State University’s spring graduation ceremonies for undergraduates Thursday and Friday, May 8-9, in Johnson Coliseum. Campos received a Bachelor of Science in engineering physics from SFA in 2021.

SFA mathematics and statistics students present research at Texas Meeting of the Mathematics Association of America
NACOGDOCHES, Texas –– Stephen F. Austin State University’s Department of Mathematics and Statistics goes far beyond the average coursework required to earn a bachelor’s or master’s degree. Under the guidance of nine dedicated faculty members, 15 students received the opportunity to participate in research, learning and networking at the 104th Texas Meeting of the Mathematics Association of America.

Because of this alliance, Panola College students who are ready to transfer to a four-year university will benefit from guaranteed admission, scholarships and enhanced services at SFA.
SFA receives gift to honor dance pioneer
NACOGDOCHES, Texas –– Stephen F. Austin State University announced a generous donation from distinguished alumna Priscilla “Prissy” Abshier Sliva in support of the School of Theatre and Dance. A proud member of SFA’s Class of 1959, Sliva made the generous commitment to enhance programmatic efforts and honor and commemorate the legacy of her uncle, Denard Haden, one of the university’s most influential figures in the arts.
SFA, TJC partner to streamline transfer process for students
Stephen F. Austin State University has added Tyler Junior College to its recently launched Lumberjack Transfer Alliance, a partnership with community colleges in East Texas that features guaranteed admission, scholarships and enhanced services to students.
During SFA Day at TJC April 17, the two institutions announced they are working together to increase the economic power of East Texas by raising the number of East Texans with college degrees through a seamless transition from junior college to four-year university.
