SFA graduate students work to increase outreach of local health nonprofit


NACOGDOCHES, Texas –– Stephen F. Austin State University graduate students in the Rusche College of Business spent the fall 2024 semester working with representatives from East Texas Community Health Services Inc. to create a strategic marketing plan for the private nonprofit so it can reach more patients throughout the region.

New report shows SFA’s impact on Nacogdoches economy


NACOGDOCHES, Texas –– Stephen F. Austin State University accounts for more than $348 million of local economic activity and supports 4,819 local jobs, or 18% of total local employment, according to a 2025 economic report produced by the Center for Business and Economic Research in SFA’s Rusche College of Business.

Given Nacogdoches County’s total regional output of about $3.3 billion, SFA is responsible for $1 out of every $9.50 of economic activity in the county, the report indicates.

SFA launches alliance with community colleges to streamline transfer process


NACOGDOCHES, Texas –– Stephen F. Austin State University has launched the Lumberjack Transfer Alliance, a partnership with community colleges in East Texas that features guaranteed admission, scholarships and enhanced services to students. Angelina College signed on to become SFA’s first alliance partner recently in Lufkin.

Inaugural Texas Music Educators Association scholarship awarded to SFA music education student


NACOGDOCHES, Texas –– Faculty, staff and music education students from Stephen F. Austin State University’s Micky Elliott College of Fine Arts gathered in Cole Concert Hall last week for a surprise announcement honoring Olivia Smith, a junior Bachelor of Music student from Angleton, as the first recipient of the Texas Music Educators Association’s newly endowed Robert Floyd Scholarship for Music Education.
