NACOGDOCHES, Texas –– In a move aimed at easing the transition for transfer students and maximizing educational opportunities, Stephen F. Austin State University has increased its accepted transfer credit limit from 66 to 90 credit hours. This significant policy change provides incoming transfer students with greater flexibility in applying their previously earned credits, helping them to progress toward degree completion without the need to retake courses or sacrifice credits.

SFA School of Music bands host ‘Kaleidoscope’ concert
NACOGDOCHES, Texas –– The bands in Stephen F. Austin State University’s School of Music will present their fifth annual “Kaleidoscope” concert at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 21 in the Griffith Fine Arts Building’s Turner Auditorium. The program will feature all three concert bands along with student chamber ensembles in a “kaleidoscope event” with no breaks between performances.

SFA students explore banking, financial planning careers
Stephen F. Austin State University students in the Rusche College of Business learned from Texas banking, bank regulation and financial planning experts that their industry is far more about people than money at a career exploration day Nov. 6. Sponsored by SFA’s Chadwick Banking Program, the event featured one-on-one meeting opportunities with nearly 20 Texas banks and financial planning institutions as well as bank regulators from the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation, Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas and the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency.
SFA aviation sciences students make strong debut at national flying competition
NACOGDOCHES, Texas –– Thirteen aviation students from Stephen F. Austin State University competed at the National Intercollegiate Flying Association's SAFECON 2024 competition, held in Waco. This prestigious event included ground and flying challenges against top collegiate flight programs from across the nation.
SFA hosts nearly 700 elementary students for Wild About Science program
Multiple departments at Stephen F. Austin State University collaborated with the Texas Forestry Association to host the annual Wild About Science event Oct. 18 and 25 for fourth and fifth grade students from regional schools. Faculty and staff from the Arthur Temple College of Forestry and Agriculture, SFA Gardens and the James I. Perkins College of Education’s Department of Education Studies trained 71 SFA students to conduct three Project Learning Tree activities for the event.
SFA mourns the passing of Dr. William R. Johnson, fourth university president
NACOGDOCHES, Texas –– Stephen F. Austin State University is deeply saddened to announce the passing of Dr. William R. Johnson, the university’s fourth president, who passed away Wednesday, Oct. 23. Johnson’s leadership, vision and dedication shaped SFA’s trajectory during his 14 years as president, from 1976 to 1990, making him one of the university’s longest-serving presidents.
