SFA bands to present 'Journeys through Light and Darkness' concert
NACOGDOCHES, TEXAS - The Stephen F. Austin State University Symphonic Band and University Band will present a joint concert, "Journeys through Light and Darkness," at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 21, in Cole Concert Hall on the SFA campus.
The concert's title is a fitting one for the two bands' selections, explained Brett A. Richardson, SFA assistant director of bands. "Many of the works deal with the juxtaposition of light and dark shadows, major and minor tonalities, and beautiful songs and energetic dances."
SFA to offer children's drawing class
NACOGDOCHES, TEXAS - Area 6- to 12-year-olds may register for an art workshop on pen and ink drawings offered by the Stephen F. Austin State University School of Art from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday, April 25, at The Cole Art Center @ The Old Opera House, 329 E. Main St. in downtown Nacogdoches. The class is part of the monthly Creative Art Saturday program.
SFA Early Childhood Lab and Head Start to hold Family Fun Day

Austin State University Early Childhood Lab and Greater East Texas Community Action Program (GETCAP) Head Start will hold the fourth annual Family Fun Day from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, April 18, at Festival Plaza in downtown Nacogdoches. The event will kick off the national Week of the Young Child, April 19-25, honoring children and those who make a difference in their lives.

May-mester returns to summer schedule
NACOGDOCHES, Tex.-Due to the success of Stephen F. Austin State University's inaugural May-mester session in 2008, a 12-day term will be offered again this summer. The May-mester session will begin on May 18 and end June 3.

NACOGDOCHES, Texas-Stephen F. Austin State University and community leaders will host a cooperative forum April 23 and 24 on the SFA campus.
The seminar is titled "Community Development in a Time of Change: A Discussion about University and Community Cooperation." The public forum is designed to open lines of communication between the university and community leaders in order to effectively work together and make an impact in the lives of East Texans.
