Parking permits, issued by parking services, are required for all visitors, students, faculty and staff members for any vehicle they drive to campus. The permit must be properly displayed inside all vehicles parked on campus.
How to order your parking permit
Before you begin, have your license plate number, car model and make ready.
- Log in to your mySFA account.
- Click on the “Campus Life” page.
- Under the “Parking” banner, click “Parking Portal.”
- Under the “Customer Authentication” heading, click the “CAS Affiliated Login” button. If you do not see the button, click “Permits” located at the top of your screen and choose “Get Permit” from the pull-down menu.
- Select "housing" or "commuter."
- Proceed by following the directions on the screen.
NOTE: At the end of the process, make sure you click on “Process Transaction” twice.

Registering multiple vehicles
Students, faculty and staff members may register multiple vehicles. The issued parking permit may be moved to any vehicle being operated by the permit purchaser.
Students
If you have a vehicle to park on campus, you must purchase a permit.

Submit your permit application
*Specialty permits must be purchased in person at the Parking and Traffic building. Fees will be placed onto student's account.
If you're needing a Class H, C or M permit, log in to the parking portal using your mySFA credentials and complete the permit application. The fee for the permit will be posted to your eBill.
Order during Orientation! If you order your parking permit during Orientation, you can come that day to pick it up with a valid photo ID at the Parking and Traffic building.
Faculty and Staff
If you have a vehicle to park on campus, you must purchase a permit.
Faculty/staff permit types and eligibility
- Class AA - Faculty/Staff All Area permit
- Eligibility: SFA faculty and staff as designated by the president and vice presidents.
- Where: Valid in any space on university property, except disabled spaces (unless a state disabled placard or license plate is displayed), or reserved spaces (service truck, hall director, visitor, etc.)
- Class F - Faculty/Staff Parking permit
- Eligibility: SFA faculty and staff
- Where: Valid in the faculty/staff lots except disabled spaces (unless a state disabled placard or license plate is displayed), resident spaces or reserved spaces (service truck, hall director, visitor, etc.)
- Class PG - Student Center Garage Contract permit
- Eligibility: SFA faculty and staff
- Where: Valid for parking in the Student Center Parking Garage
- Class M - Motorcycle permit
- Eligibility: SFA faculty and staff
- Where: Valid in any area designated for motorcycle parking
- Class B - Faculty/Staff Daily permit
- Eligibility: SFA faculty and staff
- Where: Valid in the faculty/staff lots except Aikman Drive, which requires an AA permit, disabled spaces (unless a state disabled placard or license plate is displayed), resident spaces or reserved spaces (service truck, hall director, visitor, etc.).

Visitors
A visitor is defined as anyone who is not:
- enrolled in classes
- employed by the university
- a contractor or vendor providing goods or services to the university
- or affiliated with the university in any way.
Official visitors not otherwise eligible for a university parking permit may park in the short term paid parking lots at Baker Pattillo Student Center Garage or Lot 14.
Veterans
Disabled veteran discounts
An SFA faculty member, staff member or student designated as a disabled veteran or disabled current military service member may receive a discount on the purchase of a faculty/staff permit or resident/commuter permit.
- Veterans with a 50% or more disability will receive a permit at no cost.
- Veterans with less than 50% disability will receive a permit at 50% off cost.
To be eligible, an SFA faculty member, staff member or student must register as a veteran with the SFA Veterans Resource Center and provide them with a form DD214 for verification.

Veteran recognition
An SFA faculty member, staff member or student designated as a veteran or current military service member may receive a recognition sticker to place on their faculty/staff or student parking permit. To be eligible, an SFA faculty member, staff member or student must register as a veteran with the SFA Veterans Resource Center and provide them with a form DD214 for verification.
Expectant mothers
An expectant mother permit may be obtained by a person who holds a current parking permit so they can park in specifically designated areas; areas designated will be based upon resources available and applicant needs.
Valid during the third trimester or when a pregnancy is designated as high risk, this permit allows parking in spaces specifically designated by Parking Services. Application for this permit must be accompanied by a doctor’s statement indicating the need for closer parking and/or that the driver is in the third trimester of pregnancy.
Contractors and Vendors
Contractors: comprised of individuals within a company that has been hired by the university to perform construction and/or renovation or building repair.
Vendors: any individual, company or corporation that provides a product or service to the university. This includes sales representatives, consultants, recruiters and contracted companies conducting business with SFA.
SFA students, staff and faculty members are not eligible for contractor/vendor permits.
Permit types and eligibility
- Class CV - Contractor/Vendor parking permit
- Eligibility: Any non-affiliated vendor, salesperson, technical representative, other service personnel (such as copier repairers) or contractor. Students, faculty and staff are not eligible for vendor/xervice permits.
- Where: Valid for parking in faculty/staff spaces when conducting university business, except along Aikman Drive.
- Class B - Daily permit
- Where: Valid in the faculty/staff lots except Aikman Drive, ADA spaces (unless a state ADA placard or license plate is displayed), resident spaces or reserved spaces (service truck, hall director, visitor, etc.). These permits may not be issued to SFA students.

Drivers who are disabled / ADA parking
We're committed to compliance with the nondiscrimination requirements of the U.S. Department of Justice regulations and the Texas Department of Transportation.
Designated ADA parking spaces are for the exclusive use of vehicles displaying county-issued ADA hangtags or ADA license plates.
Avoid a citation!
- ADA hangtags and license plates must be issued in the name of the person parking the vehicle on campus.
- Be prepared to show proof of eligibility to UTS-SFA police department personnel:
- ADA placard
- driver license
- photo ID
- All visitors and campus community members must also have a valid SFA parking permit.
There is a $150 citation for violating parking regulations if you park in an ADA space without documentation, the access aisles between two ADA spaces, or block ADA ramps.
Visitors with disabilities
Read the visitors section for details on obtaining a one-day parking permit.
- Your SFA visitor one-day parking permit must be displayed hanging on your rearview mirror.
- If you have an ADA hangtag or placard, place it on the front dashboard so that it's clearly visible from outside the vehicle.
If parking is not available in one of the visitor areas or if special arrangements are needed, call 936.468.PARK (7275).
Violators are subject to ticketing and/or towing.
Students, faculty and staff members with disabilities
- Your SFA parking permit must be displayed hanging on your rearview mirror.
- If you have an ADA hangtag or placard, place it on the front dashboard so that it's clearly visible from outside the vehicle.
Veterans with disabilities
SFA proudly provides veterans who have qualified disability ratings with a free on-campus parking permit.
Drivers who are temporarily sick or injured
A temporary permit may be obtained by a person who holds a current parking permit so they can park in specifically designated areas; areas designated will be based upon resources available and applicant needs.
Valid for up to one week, this permit allows parking in designated lots and must be displayed on dashboards. Application for this permit must be accompanied by a doctor’s statement. This permit may be issued only one time per semester. Those needing more than one week of time should obtain a state-issued temporary ADA placard.
Distance education students
We are aware that most of your classes are conducted online, but from time to time you will have a need to come to campus to take a test, meet with an instructor or visit the Steen Library.
If you have a vehicle to park on campus, you must purchase a permit. While you may purchase an annual student permit, we offer options for daily parking.
Short-term paid parking
Download the Parkmobile app to pay for parking in Lot 21 and the Wilson Parking Garage, near the Lumberjack Landing and Steen Library. Enter your license plate number, the amount of time you plan to stay and your payment type into the Parkmobile app. Pay by credit card at the rate of $2 for the first hour and $1 per additional hour stay. Payment is by credit card only.

Commuter scratch-off permit
Valid for one day, you can buy the permit, sold in packs of five, for $3 each. To use, scratch off the month and the day of your visit on campus, park in a commuter student lot, and you are safe from a ticket. Stop by the Parking and Traffic building to purchase your permits and we will add the cost to your student ebill.
Student Center Parking Garage
Parking in the Student Center Parking Garage enables easy access to the Baker Pattillo Student Center, Cole STEM Building, Kennedy Auditorium, Austin Building, Boynton Building and Rusk Building. Parking is $2 for the first hour, and $1 per additional hour. Payment is by cash or credit card.
Loading zones and docks
Loading zones and docks are intended for the delivery of bulky items that can't be carried long distances. There is a 15-minute parking limit and the you must be actively loading or unloading the vehicle with the flashers engaged.
When loading/unloading is complete, relocate your vehicle to an assigned parking lot.
If the loading/unloading activity will take longer than 15 minutes, contact parking services for assistance.
