Lottery enrollment: how it works

Because applications usually outnumber the number of spaces available, the school holds a lottery to decide which applications receive an invitation to enroll. Lottery notices are mailed early February; If your child's name is drawn, you'll have a deadline to accept the invitation to enroll them and to complete your initial enrollment paperwork.

If your child's name isn't drawn, they will be placed on a waiting list, and you'll be notified when new vacancies occur. Then, you'll have a deadline to let the school know if you'd like to accept the offer to enroll your child.

The Texas Education Agency states that a student may be ineligible for admission based on a history of criminal offense, juvenile court adjudication or discipline problems. View Texas Education Code § 37.001 (a) for full details.
