NACOGDOCHES, Texas – The Stephen F. Austin State University School of Art will host the exhibition “Respire” Jan. 25 through March 20 at The Cole Art Center @ The Old Opera House, SFA’s historic art gallery located in downtown Nacogdoches.
SFA’s Scott to perform new compositions for trombone
NACOGDOCHES, Texas – Dr. Deb Scott, professor of trombone at Stephen F. Austin State University, will present a recital featuring new compositions for the trombone at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 27, in Cole Concert Hall on the SFA campus.
The selections on the program are connected to Scott’s position as the director of the International Trombone Festival’s Composers Workshop. Joining her in the performance will be SFA’s Dr. Thomas Nixon and Dr. JD Salas, tuba.

SFA’s Guenther, Petti to present concert featuring music of living composers
NACOGDOCHES, Texas – Drs. Christina Guenther and Ron Petti in the School of Music at Stephen F. Austin State University will present the program “Composers of Our Time: Music for Flute and Piano” when they perform in a recital at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 20, in Cole Concert Hall on the SFA campus.
SFA piano recital to feature works by Copland, Mozart, Lutoslawski, Rachmaninoff
NACOGDOCHES, Texas – Dr. Minhae Lee, assistant professor of piano at Stephen F. Austin State University, will collaborate with Dr. Jeong-Eun Lee, visiting assistant professor of music at Indiana University, to present a recital at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 18, in Cole Concert Hall on the SFA campus.
The program will feature “El Salón México” by Aaron Copland, arranged for two pianos by Leonard Bernstein; Two Piano Sonata in D major, K. 448 by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart; Paganini Variation for Two Pianos by Witold Lutoslawski; and Suite No. 1 in C minor, Op. 17 by Sergei Rachmaninoff.
SFA percussionist Meyer to perform works by Kamstra, Mellits, Bellor, others
NACOGDOCHES, Texas – Dr. Brad Meyer, professor of percussion at Stephen F. Austin State University, will present a faculty recital featuring one of his own compositions at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 12, in Cole Concert Hall on the SFA campus.
