NACOGDOCHES, Texas — Students from Stephen F. Austin State University’s Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry recently received top honors at the Texas Academy of Science 121st annual meeting at Midland College.

NACOGDOCHES, Texas — The Stephen F. Austin State University College of Sciences and Mathematics will host its fourth annual Women in STEM Luncheon and Style Show noon Tuesday, April 17, in the Baker Pattillo Student Center Grand Ballroom.

Doors open at 11 a.m. for a gallery walk poster presentation highlighting STEM research accomplishments by SFA students and faculty.

The luncheon and style show is a scholarship fundraising event benefiting students committed to the advancement of women pursuing STEM degrees at SFA.

NACOGDOCHES, Texas – A fairy tale for all ages is what the Stephen F. Austin State University School of Music and School of Theatre promise when they present W.A. Mozart’s “The Magic Flute” as this year’s SFA Opera Theater.

Taking the stage at 7:30 p.m. Thursday through Saturday, April 12 through 14, in W.M. Turner Auditorium, “The Magic Flute” is a perennial favorite for audiences and musicians alike, according to Dr. Deborah Dalton, associate professor of voice at SFA and stage director of the opera.

NACOGDOCHES, Texas — Members of the Parent Teacher Organization for Stephen F. Austin State University’s Early Childhood Lab are selling to-go fajita dinners for their spring fundraiser.

Each dinner includes fajitas, beans, rice, three tortillas and a cookie. La Carreta restaurant is sponsoring the meals.

NACOGDOCHES, Texas — Shelby Kolek, Stephen F. Austin State University social work undergraduate, recently received the National Association of Social Workers East Texas Chapter Undergraduate Social Work Student of the Year Award.

Kolek, who has served as vice president for both the School of Social Work Student Council and the Student Association of Social Workers, felt humbled when she found out she received the award. “I was shocked and honored that Dr. Copeland even nominated me, and it was even more amazing when I found out I won.”
