NACOGDOCHES, TEXAS - "An Evening Storm," a musical composition by 16-year-old Timothy Dow of Huntington, a student in the Stephen F. Austin State University's Music Preparatory Division, will be premiered by the Austin Symphony Orchestra in a special concert at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 3, in Dell Hall in the Long Center for the Performing Arts, Austin.

NACOGDOCHES, TEXAS - Kurt Weill's "Street Scene," an American opera based on Elmer Rice's Pulitzer Prize-wining play, will be presented at 7:30 p.m. Thursday through Saturday, April 4 through 6, in W.M. Turner Auditorium on the Stephen F. Austin State University campus.

The opera, with lyrics by Langston Hughes and Elmer Rice, is a presentation of the SFA College of Fine Arts, School of Music and University Series.

NACOGDOCHES, TEXAS - Unique insights, personal stories of change, innovative concepts and "ideas worth sharing" will be featured at TEDxSFA, slated for 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, April 13, in the Baker Pattillo Student Center on the campus of Stephen F. NACOGDOCHES, TEXAS - Hours for the Cole Art Center @ The Old Opera House, Stephen F. Austin State University's art gallery located in downtown Nacogdoches, will follow regular schedules throughout spring break.

The Cole Art Center, located at 329 E. Main St., is open from 12:30 to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday.

NACOGDOCHES - A collaborative project between Stephen F. Austin State University student writers and artists will culminate in the annual "Pen & Pigment" exhibition, which opens at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, March 21, in Griffith Gallery, located in the Griffith Fine Arts Building.

NACOGDOCHES, TEXAS - The SFA Steel Band, also known as the "Jacks of Steel," will perform an exciting and diverse concert of music under the direction of Brad Meyer, director of percussion studies, at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 26, in Cole Concert Hall in the Wright Music Building on the Stephen F. Austin State University campus.

One of the most popular and requested ensembles in the SFA School of Music, the group is comprised of 13 members playing steel pan, ethnic percussion, drumset and bass guitar, according to Meyer.

NACOGDOCHES, TEXAS - World-famous trombonist Abbie Conant will bring her 600-pound quadraphonic sound system to the campus of Stephen F. Austin State University when she performs in concert at 7:30 p.m. Monday, March 25, in the newly refurbished Music Recital Hall in the Wright Music Building.

NACOGDOCHES - Stephen F. Austin State University School of Music faculty organist Jeremy S. Bruns will perform a recital at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, March 21, at Christ Episcopal Church in honor of the great composer Johann Sebastian Bach.

NACOGDOCHES - The Stephen F. Austin State University College of Fine Arts and School of Music will present a faculty chamber recital at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 19, in Cole Concert Hall in the Wright Music Building on the SFA campus.

The faculty ensemble will feature Emily Mitchell, harp; Christina Guenther, flute; Jeremy Fain, bassoon; Geneva Fung, piano; and Melissa Nabb, viola.
