Master puppeteer Alan Nielsen returns to the stage for 'Little Shop of Horrors'

Mass communication student earns award, scholarship


Red Oak native Jade Bly, a sophomore mass communication student at Stephen F. Austin State University, took top honors in the Freedom of Speech Public Service Announcement Competition for college mass communication students. In recognition for placing first in the television category, Bly was honored at the Excellence in Journalism, Student Union event at the recent Society of Professional Journalists National Journalism Conference in Fort Lauderdale, Fla.

Local resident presents memory book to royal representatives


Nacogdoches resident Ann Phillips shares a memory book about Queen Elizabeth II, which was created by her friend, the late Willie Gramling, a beloved local music teacher. The book includes photos, articles and other mementos from the queen's reign, and was presented to visitors from London during a recent announcement about the Lumberjack Marching Band's upcoming trip abroad.

Caddo Historian to speak at Nacogdoches Historic Train Depot Oct. 8


NACOGDOCHES, Texas - A noted author and historian will discuss the Caddo tribe's history at 7 p.m. Monday, Oct. 8, at the Nacogdoches Historic Train Depot. The Center for Regional Heritage Research at Stephen F. Austin State University is hosting the event, which will feature Phil Cross, an enrolled member of the Caddo Nation of Oklahoma and historian of the Caddo Culture Club.

'All That Jazz' to benefit scholarship endowment


Guest percussionist Marcus Reddick will perform with SFA's Swingin' Axes and Swingin' Aces in "All That Jazz," a fundraising concert at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 12, in Cole Concert Hall. The event will benefit the SFA Jazz Scholarship Endowment.
