Area middle school students participate in SFA math and science conference

NACOGDOCHES, Texas - About 100 seventh- and eighth-grade students from five area school districts are attending iMAS (Investigations in Math and Science) Academy this week at Stephen F. Austin State University.

Local artists' work available through SFA fund-raiser


These 12-inch-square artworks and almost 60 others will be included in the annual "12 x 12" fund-raiser sponsored by the SFA Friends of the Visual Arts.

SFA offers final performances of 'How I Became a Pirate'

Nacogdoches Naturally to host family fun day at Lake Nacogdoches


NACOGDOCHES, Texas - Nacogdoches Naturally will host a Weekend Family Outdoor Adventure from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, July 14, at Lake Nacogdoches. The family day is sponsored by the Stephen F. Austin State University Pineywoods Native Plant Center and will offer participants the opportunity to enjoy water activities and share food with family and friends.

SFA Gardens Lecture Series to feature experienced Texas horticulturist


NACOGDOCHES, Texas - The SFA Gardens at Stephen F. Austin State University will host the monthly Theresa and Les Reeves Lecture Series at 7 p.m. Thursday, July 19, in the Agriculture Building, Room 110, at 1924 Wilson Drive. Longtime Houston area horticulturist Linda Gay will present "The Life and Times of a Happy Horticulturist."

NACOGDOCHES, Texas - Jourdan Dukes of Dallas has been appointed by Gov. Rick Perry to serve as student regent for Stephen F. Austin State University during the 2012-13 academic year.

Nacogdoches Photographic Association show to open


Kay Jeffrey's "Water in the Rocks" won Best in Show in the 2011 Nacogdoches Photographic Association's "19th Annual Juried Gallery Show." The league's 2012 show will open at 5 p.m. Friday, July 6, at The Cole Art Center @ The Old Opera House.

SFA to screen origami documentary


NACOGDOCHES, TEXAS - The art and science of origami are explored in the award-winning documentary "Between the Folds," which the Stephen F. Austin State University School of Art and Friends of the Visual Arts will screen at 7 p.m. Friday, July 6, at The Cole Art Center @ The Old Opera House in downtown Nacogdoches.

The free, one-night screening is part of the School of Art's First Friday Film Series.

Registration open for SFA strings and piano camp


NACOGDOCHES, TEXAS - Strings and piano students from across the state are invited to register for a one-week camp being presented by the Stephen F. Austin State University School of Music Sunday, July 8, through Friday, July 13, on the university campus.
