The last day to view "TEXAS NATIONAL 2012" in the downstairs Ledbetter Gallery and "Stephen Mueller: (1947-2011): In Memoriam" in the upstairs Reavley Gallery will be May 26.

NACOGDOCHES, TEXAS - As part of its monthly film series, the Stephen F. Austin State University School of Art and Friends of the Visual Arts will present a free, one-night screening of "Stitched" at 7 p.m. Friday, June 1, at The Cole Art Center @ The Old Opera House, 329 E. Main St.

In the 72-minute documentary, directors Jenalia Moreno and Tom Gandy follow three art quilters as they prepare for and compete in the nation's largest quilt show, Houston's International Quilt Festival.

NACOGDOCHES, TEXAS - A Disney Movie Magic choir camp for second through eighth graders, Kindermusik camps for newborns through 5-year-olds, flexible private music lessons for all ages, and adult piano classes are all part of the summer program offered by the Music Preparatory Division at Stephen F. The A Cappella Choir at Stephen F. Austin State University will leave Thursday, May 17, for an 11-day European concert tour, which will also include visits to historical sites.

NACOGDOCHES, TEXAS - Registrations are now being accepted for the Summer Art Academy offered by the Stephen F. Austin State University School of Art. The two-week camp will meet Monday through Friday, June 18 through 29. Students in kindergarten through sixth grade may enroll in classes that include drawing, painting, photography and sculpture.

"The academy offers an exciting introduction to the visual arts and an immersion into specific media," said Gary Parker, SFA art instructor and director of the academy.

Dr. Janie Owens Kenner, former professor of fashion merchandising at Stephen F. Austin State University, received the Edna Wilkin Teagarden Award for Exemplary Service in Human Sciences at the annual Human Sciences Honors Convocation.

NACOGDOCHES, Texas - The East Texas Research Center at Stephen F. Austin State University will host a Disaster and Preservation Planning Workshop Series May 14-17.

The workshops were made possible through a grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities and will focus on some of the disaster and preservation challenges cultural heritage institutions such as libraries, museums and archives regularly face.
