SFA Gardens Lecture Series to feature Texas A&M horticulturist


NACOGDOCHES, Texas - The SFA Gardens at Stephen F. Austin State University will host the monthly Theresa and Les Reeves Lecture Series at 7 p.m. Thursday, July 21, in the Agriculture Building, Room 110, at 1924 Wilson Dr. Texas A&M University professor Dr. David Reed will present "Think Like a Plant and You Can Actually Grow One."

Watercolor East Texas exhibition to open


NACOGDOCHES, TEXAS - The winners of Watercolor East Texas' 27th annual juried exhibition will be announced on Saturday, July 23, at The Cole Art Center @ The Old Opera House in downtown Nacogdoches.

Beginning at 1:30 p.m., juror Sandra L. Spann will present the awards and offer a critique. A reception will immediately follow.

SFA musical theatre, theatre camps scheduled


NACOGDOCHES, TEXAS - Registrations are still open for three different theatre camps being offered through the Stephen F. Austin State University College of Fine Arts during the first two weeks of August.

The Music Preparatory Division of the SFA School of Music will be offering "Bach to the Future" for second through sixth graders Monday, Aug. 1, through Friday, Aug. 5, and "Glee Camp" Monday, Aug. 8, through Friday, Aug. 12, for students who have completed sixth through 12th grades.

Both camps will be led by Nicole Stewart, director of the SFA Children's Chorus.

SFA's '12 x 12' offers original art at bargain prices


NACOGDOCHES, TEXAS - Community members attending the SFA Friends of the Visual Arts' "12 x 12" fund-raiser from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday, July 16, at The Cole Art Center @ The Old Opera House will have the opportunity to purchase some great art at a bargain price, according to Kerry Whitsett, member of the Friends organization and chair of the fund-raiser.

The original pieces created from 12-inch wooden squares by over 50 SFA-related and area artists are currently on display at The Cole Art Center as a part of a silent auction with a minimum bid of $250.

SFA's summer theatre season to close this week

Registration open for Kindermusik Adventure Camps at SFA


NACOGDOCHES, TEXAS - Parents of newborns through 7-year-olds can register their children for the Kindermusik Adventure Camps to be offered through the Music Preparatory Division of the Stephen F. Austin State University School of Music Monday, July 25, through Friday, July 29. Registration deadline for the four age-appropriate sessions is Friday, July 15.
