NACOGDOCHES, TEXAS - Three art shows are currently on view at Stephen F. Austin State University's The Cole Art Center @ The Old Opera House located at 329 E. Main St. in downtown Nacogdoches.
The "2011 Nacogdoches Art League Annual Juried Exhibition" is displayed in the upstairs Hallway Gallery. Juried by SFA Professor of Art Peter Andrew, the show will run through Saturday, July 2.
Also upstairs, in the Reavley Gallery, viewers can see "Nac Collects," an eclectic exhibition of artworks from Nacogdoches collectors Laura McKinney, Linda McKinney and Terry Steed.
SFA to host "Exercising Your Brain" workshop
NACOGDOCHES, Texas-The Stephen F. Austin State University School of Social Work and the University of Texas Medical Branch East Texas Geriatric Education Consortium will host Susan Chandler as she presents "Exercising Your Brain: An Informative Session and Brain Work-Out for Healthy Aging" on Wednesday, June 22.
SFA School of Theatre announces summer season
NACOGDOCHES, TEXAS - Tickets are now on sale for the popular children's musical and the classic ghost story that comprise the Stephen F. Austin State University School of Theatre's summer season, "Thrills! Chills! Exclamations!"
The season will open at 6:30 p.m. Friday, June 24, with "Schoolhouse Rock Live!," a family-friendly musical based on the short educational cartoons that ran on Saturday morning television in the 1970s, '80s and '90s.
SFA Gardens Lecture Series to feature Oklahoma horticulturist
NACOGDOCHES, Texas - The SFA Gardens at Stephen F. Austin State University will host the monthly Theresa and Les Reeves Lecture Series at 7 p.m. Thursday, June 16, in the Agriculture Building, Room 110, at 1924 Wilson Dr. Oklahoma State University horticulturist and author Steve Dobbs will present "Architectural Plants: Space-Saving Plants in Urban Landscapes for Texture and Diversity."
SFA Pineywoods Camp to host day camps in June
Campers at SFA Pineywoods Camp enjoy learning about white-tailed deer from Andy McCarty, an alumnus from the Arthur Temple College of Forestry and Agriculture at Stephen F. SFA Music Preparatory Division offers summer lessons and camps
NACOGDOCHES, TEXAS - Private music lessons, adult dance and piano classes, Kindermusik camps for newborns through 7-year-olds, a musical theater camp for second through fifth graders and "Glee Camp" for sixth through 12th graders are all part of the summer program offered by the Music Preparatory Division at Stephen F. Austin State University.
SFA Cole Art Center closed, readying for June exhibitions
NACOGDOCHES, TEXAS - Stephen F. Austin State University's The Cole Art Center @ The Old Opera House, located at 329 E. Main St. in downtown Nacogdoches, is currently closed through Thursday, June 2, while new exhibitions are being installed.
The center will reopen on Friday, June 3, for the 5:30 p.m. opening reception for the "2011 Nacogdoches Art League Annual Exhibition," which will run through Saturday, July 2, in the second floor Hallway Gallery. Peter Andrew, SFA professor of art, serves as the exhibition's juror.
Registrations being accepted for SFA Summer Art Academy

SFA Campus Recreation to host summer camps for kids
The Stephen F. Austin State University Campus Recreation Department will host weeklong "Little Jack Camp" sessions throughout June and July for children ages 5-12.
Little Jack Camp will offer a variety of activities including swimming, rock climbing, basketball, tennis, nature activities, visual arts, racquet sports, soccer, scavenger hunts, team games, water safety and movies.
SFA interior design students give an office makeover
