NACOGDOCHES, TEXAS - The Choral Union and Women's Choir of Stephen F. Austin State University will present a joint concert, "With Heart and Voice," at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 8, in Cole Concert Hall on the SFA campus.

"The program features folksongs, tales, love songs, prayers and spirituals, all of which relate the human experience," said Dr. David Howard, director of both ensembles.

The Choral Union, a 70-voice mixed chorus, will perform works by Ludwig van Beethoven, Johannes Brahms, and an arrangement by Mack Wilberg of three Scottish folksongs.

Soprano Debbie Berry, SFA vocal instructor, will be the featured soloist during the SFA Orchestra of Pines' performance of Gustav Mahler's "Symphony No. 4 in G major" at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, March 10.

NACOGDOCHES, Texas - Stephen F. Austin State University received nine marketing and communication awards at the Council for Advancement and Support of Education's recent District IV conference in New Orleans. SFA received the most awards of any single institution in the marketing and communication category.

NACOGDOCHES, Texas - Dr. Linda Bond, assistant professor of communication at Stephen F. Austin State University, recently published a book titled "Women Negotiating Collaborative Learning: Making the Grade."

The book is an in-depth study of what college students experience when asked to perform group assignments and the disadvantage some women face while participating in group work.

The 52-minute documentary by Yves Billy and Richard Prost is a global investigation into the evolving nature of food production and the crisis it may portend.

NACOGDOCHES, TEXAS - The Swingin' Axes and Swingin' Aces jazz bands of Stephen F. Austin State University will present a joint concert at 7:30 p.m. Friday, March 4, in Cole Concert Hall on the SFA campus.

Under the direction of SFA Associate Professor Deb Scott, the Aces will open the concert with a varied program that includes Lars Halle's Mambo-style "Sonidos De La Calle"; Matt Harris' funk tune, "Whatsa Matta"; and Neal Hefti's famous swing piece, "Splanky."
