SFA exhibition benefits Gulf Disaster relief

Local artists' work available through SFA fund-raiser

Stephen F. Austin State University and the City of Nacogdoches will host the Preserve America Workshop on oral history from 10 a.m. to 4:15 p.m. Friday, June 25, on the SFA campus.

SFA graduate students to host free counseling clinics


Counseling graduate students from the Stephen F. Austin State University School Counseling Program will hold free counseling clinics in the greater Palestine area through Aug. 12.

The clinics will be held from 1 to 6 p.m. on Mondays and Wednesdays at the Magnolia Medical Center on South Loop 256 in Palestine. The first off-campus counseling clinic has been established with the assistance of the East Texas Physician's Alliance and Dr. Mike Smith.

SFA Gardens Les Reeves Lecture to feature San Antonio horticulturist and author


The SFA Gardens will host horticulturist and author Paul Cox at the Les Reeves Garden Lecture 7 p.m. Thursday, June 17, in Room 110 of the Agriculture Building on Wilson Drive on the Stephen F. Austin State University campus.

Cox is the former assistant director of the San Antonio Botanic Garden and co-author of Texas Trees a Friendly Guide. He will present an entertaining and thought-provoking program titled "Sure Experience is the Best Teacher, but Why Can't it happen to Someone Else?"

Cox is a graduate of SFA and currently resides with his family in Helotes, Texas.

SFA to host ninth annual Pineywoods Camp


Stephen F. Austin State University will host the ninth annual Pineywoods Camp in June.

Children ages 4 to 10 are invited to discover the natural world among the tall pines and streams of East Texas. The campers will learn through hands-on investigations, games, crafts and exploration of forest environments.

Openings are available for two camp sessions. Wonder Woods, June 7 to 11, is open to children ages 4 to 6 at a cost of $75. Mill Creek Camp 2, June 21 to 25, is open to children ages 7 to 10. The cost for Mill Creek Camp 2 is $100.
