SFA photographer earns awards at conference


Two recent photographs by Stephen F. Austin State University photographer Hardy Meredith received awards at the Council for Advancement and Support of Education's recent District IV conference in Austin.

Meredith received Special Awards (fourth place) in both the Structured Color Photography and Black-and-White Photography categories for his photos titled "Dr. Deer and Company" and "Header," respectively.

SFA to present Teaching Excellence Awards

SFA to present American opera 'Susannah'

SFA Trombone Choir concert slated


NACOGDOCHES, TEXAS -The Trombone Choir at Stephen F. Austin State University will present a wide array of music during its spring concert at 7:30 p.m. Monday, April 12, in Cole Concert Hall on the SFA campus.

The 20-member choir will perform works spanning almost 400 years, some of which were originally written for a trombone ensemble and some that have been transcribed or arranged for the instrument, explained Deb Scott, SFA assistant professor of trombone and the group's director.

SFA Gardens Lecture Series to feature Oregon nurseryman


The Stephen F. Austin State University Gardens will host its monthly Les Reeves Garden Lecture Series at 7 p.m. Thursday, April 15, in Room 110 of the Agriculture Building located on Wilson Drive on the SFA campus. Stephen F. Austin State University will host a series of events to educate students and the public on national debt and budget deficit issues during "Debt Week: Spring 2010" April 12-15 on the SFA Campus.

SFA Bright Ideas Conference to highlight faculty research, scholarship and artistry


The Bright Ideas Conference highlighting faculty research, scholarship and artistry will be held from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday, April 8, in the Baker Pattillo Student Center at Stephen F. Austin State University.

More than 100 faculty exhibits will be on display throughout the day in the Grand Ballroom, and seven 30-minute spotlight presentations will be given in the afternoon in Regents Suites A and B. An opening session and award presentation is planned for 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
