Dr. Bonita Jacobs, Class of ’71 and ‘73 

Dr. Bonita Jacobs holds a Bachelor of Science in Spanish and a Master of Education in counseling from SFA, and she earned her doctorate in educational administration from Texas A&M University. Her career in higher education began right here at SFA, where she quickly worked her way from student affairs counselor to director of the Residence Life Department. Before she was hired for her position as President of the University of North Georgia, she served in leadership roles at Western Carolina University and the University of North Texas. She is a founder of the National Institute for the Study of Transfer Students, and she is the author of a book titled The College Transfer Student in America: The Forgotten Student.
